Ngozi RBK Okafor
A passionate Nigerian humanitarian with over 25 years of nursing experience and a lifelong dedication to empowering the underserved
I was born into a prominent family popular for public service. My father is the Late Chief RBK Okafor, an excellent businessman, and politician who served in various political offices such as Member Representing Owerri West in the Federal House of Representatives, Federal Parliamentary Secretary for the Ministry of Trade, Federal Parliamentary Secretary for the Ministry of Justice, and a one-time party chairman of the Nigeria People’s Party in Imo State. My beautiful mother, Mrs. Mercy Nwuto Okafor is also a business woman of impeccable character.
I am proud to be the sixth child of their sweet union.
I received my primary education at Hope Children’s School, Lagos, and my secondary education at the Federal Government Girl’s College (FGGC), Benin-City, where I sat for my senior secondary school certificate examination.
I went on to San Jacinto College in Texas, USA, to obtain a degree in Nursing. I have been blessed to run many successful businesses and presently, I run about two non-profit organisations. I am a married mother of three beautiful kids. I am a Christian and a strong lover of my Igbo culture.
Professionally, I am a Registered Nurse. I have worked in the health and caregiving sector for over 25 years in the United States of America.
In 2013, my passion to care for the less privileged and the vulnerable, motivated me to found Safety Net Assistance Project, Inc. A non-profit organisation that cares and shares blessings with vulnerable people; most especially, the elderly.
I've run several successful businesses in the past, and now I am the Executive Director of the Chief RBK Okafor Family Foundation. Our organization has launched projects such as the Transportation Assistance Project, Support The Artisans Project, and the Chief RBK Okafor Essay Writing Scholarship.
While one can have a great plan, it is important to make sure the people understand clearly how it benefits them while listening to the particular progress they would love to see.
This would not only bring about transparency in governance/leadership, but it will also increase people’s participation in the entire community development process.
If the people feel involved in the process, the progress that comes will not feel alien to them, they will take ownership in the outcome.
